Baltimore, MD (October 2011) Fresh off his 2011-2012 ASCAPLUS Award, ESPN has further recognized independent artist/songwriter Wordsmith, by licensing multiple recordings from the artist, as featured music for their “College Football Plays of the Week”. This licensing deal further validates Wordsmith and his label as one of the new lions of the independent music scene.
Wordsmith will be gracing ESPN College Football Saturdays, with releases off of his past and present projects. “Eye for the Spotlight” (King Noah Mixtape) will debut on “ESPN College Football Plays of the Week” on October 31st, 2011 and will be repeated. The track will also officially debut on ESPN.com/music for streaming starting October 4th. After reviewing additional original music from Wordsmith’s catalogue, ESPN decided to license “Rock the Crowd” (Vintage Experience) and “The Great” (Overdue & Underrated Mixtape) for further programming.
Wordsmith says, “I hope this is the start of a long relationship between ESPN and myself. They have stated they are really impressed with my music, especially since I am an independent artist, but it just gives me the motivation to stay the course in my music career.”
Already doing major license work since 2009, scoring “Death & Honor” for the Nintendo Wii video game “Madworld“, Wordsmith continues to build his resume` outside of his Hip Hop roots.
