Everyday for the month of April DJ Mega Skills dropped a new mix from the best of’s to club/house mixes. Black Knight caught up with DJ Mega Skills to ask him some questions and give you all a better understanding of who DJ Mega Skills is. Down below the interview is every mix that he released for Mega Music Month with a download link provided for each mix. My favorite would have to be the Best of Guru (Day 28) but trust me all of these mixes are worth checking out! Don’t let this post overwhelm you, get to know DJ Mega Skills and check out his work.
Black Knight: How long have you been a DJ?
DJ Mega Skills: I’ve Been A DJ for 15 years
Black Knight: With so many rappers and around how does one choose to become a DJ?
DJ Mega Skills: Pretty much I’m a DJ b/c I love music and once I found out more about DJing I’ve been doing it ever since.
Black Knight: Who are some of the people or DJs who influenced you to become a DJ?
DJ Mega Skills: I really didn’t have too many influences growing up but I guess it was something that really interested me when I was young. In the early 90′s, I saw the movie Juice and after that I told my mother that I wanted to be a DJ. I would always buy the top DJ’s mixtape like DJ Kid Capri, DJ Clue, DJ Ron G, and etc. I’d always say to myself I can do this for a living just like all of them. Some of the DJ’s that inspired me are of course DJ AM, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier.
Black Knight: Everyone has the choice of equipment that they think is best, what are you currently using?
DJ Mega Skills: Their is tons of stuff out there but you have to use what is best for you. Of course I use Serato Scratch Live, the Technics 1200 Turntables, Technics CD Player DZ1200, and lastly Pioneer CDJ 800s or 1000s.
Black Knight: You just came of a huge month were you dropped a mixtape for everyday of April, tell us more about the Mega Month.
DJ Mega Skills: Yes, it was huge month I’m exhausted lol. Basically, I wanted to this one too create some more industry buzz. Also, I wanted to show other DJ’s that you can do all types of mixtapes and actuallly mix them together. Lastly, I wanted to bring the real mixtapes back to the fore front.
Black Knight: What was you favorite tape you did for the month?
DJ Mega Skills: Its hard to answer that one. I think it’s a tie between The Best Of Tribe Called, Rakim, and GURU?
Black Knight: You are also currently spinning on a few different radio stations, please tell us about your shows, and when we listen to a Mega Skills show, what can you expect to hear?
DJ Mega Skills: Yes, I have 6 different Internet Radio Shows you can listen to the Mega Mix on www.revoltradio.com 2pm to 3pm Mon thru Fri, www.truefireradio.net Tues. at 11p to 12a, www.erbinubsessionsradio.com Mon at 8pm to 10pm, www.unheardradio.com I’m a featured DJ there and also the Fleet DJs have a channel there too, and www.iconradio.com starting at the end of May.
Black Knight: Do you also do your thing in the clubs? When and where can we check you out live?

Black Knight: Who are some of your favorite artists to listen to? Who 99% of the time will make it into your mixes?
DJ Mega Skills: Jadakiss, Nas, John Legend, and DJ Premier’s beats. You will all of these artists in the mix.
Black Knight: What do you think bout the state of Hip-Hop and whats your thoughts on the current DJ game?
DJ Mega Skills: I’m not that happy with the state of hip hop in the US. It’s some of real artists that are keeping it hot. I think hip hop is too commercially controlled. I love it overseas they are really keeping the real hip hop alive.
Black Knight: What is in the Future for DJ Mega Skills?
DJ Mega Skills: I gonna keep trying to bring these real mixtapes to the forefront. Maybe a Mixshow slot on Satellite radio. Hopefully, continually to travel around the US and the World DJing the hottest parties and events.
Black Knight: If any artist want to do any work with you how do they get in contact with you?
DJ Mega Skills: I always love working with new talent. My contact info is djmegaskills@gmail.com, www.djmegaskills.com, www.twitter.com/djmegaskills
